Why should I buy a property in France

Following the estimation of the French Office for National Statistics (INSEE) on 1st January 2016, 148,800 British citizens were living in France.

The latest French INSEE census gives an even higher figure of British citizens living in France: 151,800 in 2014 of which 43% were between the ages of 15 and 54 while 46% were 55 and over.

There are many reasons why France is a popular choice among British buyers; we have tried to summarise for you the five most important points:

  1. A great variety of options regarding locations: cities, towns, villages, coasts and mountains and a lot of charming little villages full of history and style. This makes France an excellent option when looking for a second home for holidays.
  2. France has a reasonably stable property market which makes it a good choice for buyers more focused on investment rather than personal relocation.
  3. The buying process in France is well regulated and relatively straightforward. This means you won’t need to worry about last-minute surprises or costs uprising to manage the bureaucracy.
  4. Taxes aren’t as high as you would expect, well this is always good news
  5. France has excellent public services, including healthcare, education and public transport that are efficient and reasonably priced. For those who intend to relocate, the search for a good lifestyle and the serenity of a good welfare system will undoubtedly result in France being one of the best options.
